Prime Minister Visits Flood-Affected Communities in Xayabury District

(KPL) Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, a member of the Politburo of the Party Central Committee, visited flood-affected villages in Xayabury district on July 30 to assess damages and express support for the impacted communities.

The Prime Minister was welcomed by Mr. Phongsavanh Sitthavong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Xayabury, along with Mr. Sen Phanlak, Secretary of the District Party Committee, and other provincial and district officials.

As part of the visit, the Prime Minister and his delegation inspected a flood-damaged bridge in Ban Nato Yai and met with local residents to hear firsthand accounts of the impact.

According to the District Disaster Management Committee, the floods affected 40 villages, impacting 1,820 families, including 9,248 men and 4,592 women, with damages estimated at over 32.4 billion kip.

In a show of solidarity, the Prime Minister provided financial assistance of over 10 million kip to support the local administration of Ban Nato Noi, one of the affected communities.

The visit reaffirmed the government’s commitment to disaster recovery, infrastructure repair, and the wellbeing of flood-stricken citizens in the province.
