(KPL) Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone has been honoured with the Distinguished ASEAN Leader Award 2024.

The award was presented to Prime Minister Sonexay by Mr. Tan Sri Michael Yeoh, President of the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific and the ASEAN Economic Club, during the 2024 ASEAN Leadership and Partnership Forum held in Vientiane on September 16.

This prestigious recognition highlights Prime Minister Sonexay's significant contributions to the development of the Lao PDR and his leadership in ASEAN affairs, particularly during Lao PDR’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2024.

The Distinguished ASEAN Leader Award is a notable accolade awarded to ASEAN leaders who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to regional development.

In his acceptance speech, Prime Minister Sonexay expressed deep gratitude to the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific and the ASEAN Economic Club. He emphasized that the award not only reflects his efforts but also recognizes the contributions of the Lao people and the unwavering support from ASEAN member countries and external partners.

The Prime Minister also extended his appreciation to the KSI Strategic Institute for its backing of ASEAN initiatives and its support for the Lao PDR’s ASEAN Chairmanship under the theme “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience.” He noted that such support is crucial to ensuring the success of the Lao PDR’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024.
