Golf Long Thanh to invest over US$1 billion in SEZ in Vientiane

KPL (KPL) The Vietnam’s Golf Long Thanh Investment and Trade Joint Stock Company has spent 700 billion kip (over US$86 million) out of a total investment of US$1 billion to build the Long Thanh-Vientiane Specific Economic Zone.

(KPL) The Vietnam’s Golf Long Thanh Investment and Trade Joint Stock Company has spent 700 billion kip (over US$86 million) out of a total investment of US$1 billion to build the Long Thanh-Vientiane Specific Economic Zone.

The Long Thanh-Vientiane Specific Economic Zone covers 560 ha in Dongphosy village, Hardxayfong district, Vientiane Capital.

The first phase in 2009-2012 period, the company has already invested over 700 billion kip of the total US$1 billion. The completed work included clearing land for infrastructure, building an 18 hole golf course and driving range, an office building, a restaurant and parking area.

The second phase of the expansion included adding an additional nine holes to the golf course and building several houses, according to its executive board report this week.

This project has created 700 jobs for locals and Vietnamese. The Long Thanh-Vientiane SEZ is expected to create an additional 1,000 jobs this year and add another 9 holes to the golf course bring the total to 36 holes.

The zone is first and only Vietnamese investment project in a Lao Special Economic Zone.  There are six Special Economic Zones in Laos.  The project built a golf court and a five-star hotel, a hospital, a school and shopping center.

The Long Thanh-Vientiane Specific Economic Zone has been granted a 99 year land concession for its investment.

The zone will become an attractive investment for both local and foreign investors under the one-stop policy of Laos.
