Acting National Assembly President Delivers Aid to Flood Victims in Khammouane

KPL Acting President of the National Assembly Sounthone Xayachack visited flood-affected communities in Xebangfai and Nongbok districts, Khammouane Province, on August 22, 2026, delivering relief supplies and encouragement to affected residents.

(KPL) Acting President of the National Assembly Sounthone Xayachack visited flood-affected communities in Xebangfai and Nongbok districts, Khammouane Province, on August 22, 2026, delivering relief supplies and encouragement to affected residents.

The visit covered Naphok Theung Village in Xebangfai District and Tan Theung Subdistrict in Nongbok District. Provincial Party Secretary and President of the Khammouane Provincial People's Assembly Xaichana Khotphouthone accompanied the delegation.

Nongbok District has been among the areas hardest hit by flooding. From August 9–20, flooding affected 34 villages, 6,729 households and 36,117 people, while damaging roads, bridges, irrigation systems and other public facilities.

In Tan Theung Subdistrict alone, 902 of 1,736 households were affected, involving 3,790 people, while 3,318 hectares of rice fields were submerged.

Mrs. Sounthone presented financial assistance and essential goods to Xebangfai District and Tan Theung Subdistrict and encouraged local authorities and residents to continue working together to overcome the impacts of the floods.
