7th AIPA Advisory Council on Dangerous Drugs Meeting Held in Luang Prabang

ຂປລ The 7th Meeting of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Advisory Council on Dangerous Drugs was held in Luang Prabang on August 7 under the theme “Strengthening the Role of Parliaments in Addressing the Drug Matters for a Drug-Free ASEAN Realization.”


(KPL) The 7th Meeting of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Advisory Council on Dangerous Drugs was held in Luang Prabang on August 7 under the theme “Strengthening the Role of Parliaments in Addressing the Drug Matters for a Drug-Free ASEAN Realization.”

The meeting was chaired by Vice President of the National Assembly Khambay Damlath and attended by representatives from AIPA member countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Myanmar. The AIPA Secretary-General, AIPA Secretariat, and representatives from relevant organizations such as ASOD and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) were also present.

Chairman Khambay Damlath expressed appreciation for the efforts of AIPA member states in preventing, suppressing, controlling, and addressing drug issues.

He highlighted the Lao PDR’s prioritization of addressing the drug problem, declaring it a national agenda in 2021.

Through the implementation of this agenda, significant progress has been made in resolving drug-related cases.

The Lao PDR is committed to continuing these efforts until 2025 to further reduce drug-related issues within the country.
