NA’s 7th Ordinary Session wraps up, Vatthana Dalaloy named new BOL governor

ຂປລ (KPL) The 7th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly's (NA) 9th Legislature was officially wrapped up following the election of Ms. Vatthana Dalaloy as new governor of the Bank of the Lao PDR.

(KPL) The 7th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly's (NA) 9th Legislature was officially wrapped up following the election of Ms. Vatthana Dalaloy as new governor of the Bank of the Lao PDR.

Dalaloy’s predecessor Bounleua Sinxayvoravong will serve a new post as Governor of Luang Prabang Province.

A closing ceremony for the meeting saw the presence of NA President Xaysomphone Phomvihane, Party Secretary General and State President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and other Party and government leaders, and NA’s members.

Held since Jun 10, the 7th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly's 9th Legislature approved revised growth targets, amendments to 11 laws, two new draft laws and other documents of national importance.

The meeting also approved a resolution on the implementation of the national socio-economic development plan, the state budget plan, and the monetary plan and the downward adjustment of macroeconomic, trade and investment targets for the last six months of the year.  

The National Assembly urged the government to speed up translating into legal instruments the targets, policies and measures stated in the resolution of the 7th Ordinary Session, and efforts to stabilize macro economy, exchange and inflation rates, increase commercial production.

The assembly also asked the government to fulfil targets of the revenue collection plan, and create favourable conditions for foreign investment.

The meeting also approved the government’s reports on the implementation of the national socio-economic development plan, the state budget plan and the monetary plan as well as the two national agendas on addressing economic and financial difficulties, and drug issues in the first six months of 2024, and targets set for the second half of the year.

Reports on the implementation of the targets of rural development and poverty alleviation in the first half of the year plans for the last six months were also approved by members of the National Assembly.

The lawmakers also asked the government to direct relevant authorities at all levels to pay attention to supervising the exploration and mining of mineral resources.
