(KPL) The Burapha Agriculture and Forestry Company has helped the local people of Hinherb district, Vientiane province to manage forests and reforest to ensure a green and charming country.

“Every year, the Burapha Agro Forestry Company joins villagers to plant trees on National Arbour Day and International Children’s Day,” said Vice President of Burapha Agro Forestry Company Souphayvanh Thiengchanxay.

“This year, we have a plan to grow trees saplings on 600 hectares and will continue growing trees on 60,000 hectares in Hinherb district, Vientiane province.”

 Burapha Agro-Forestry Co., Ltd is a joint venture company between Laos and Sweden to process wood for export.

“Currently, our company has a wood processing factory and a furniture factory exporting to more than 20 countries worldwide,” said Mrs Souphayvanh. “We have planned to set up the second plywood factory in Hinherb district, Vientiane Province, which the construction work will start in August of this year.”

Burapha is the oldest foreign direct investment company in Laos and has an extensive knowledge of Laos and a wide regional network.

The company produces quality wood products from its own eucalyptus and acacia plantations.

“Every year, Hinherb district and the Burapha Agro Forestry Company prepare tree saplings for planting on National Arbour Day and International Children’s Day,” said Deputy Head of Agriculture and Forestry Department of Vientiane province Sithaheng Thongsavanh.

Hinherb district and the Burapha Agro Forestry Company observe tree planting not only to celebrate National Arbour Day and International Children’s Day but also to help achieve the government’s plan of having 70 percent of the national territory covered with trees by 2020.

In 2017, the Agriculture and Forestry Department plans to provide 10,000 tree saplings for planting on 150 ha in Hinherb district, Vientiane province.

From 1997 to 2016, 7 million tree saplings were planted over 7.3 million ha in Hinherb district, Vientiane province.
