Xaysomphone Phomvihane has been unanimously re-elected as President of the National Assembly during the inaugural session of the 10th legislature, held in Vientiane on Monday.
The opening session, convened at the National Assembly Hall, brought together lawmakers from across the country to begin deliberations on key national priorities and leadership appointments for the new term.
Members of the National Assembly voted with 100 percent approval to retain Xaysomphone in the top legislative role, underscoring strong confidence in his leadership and experience.
His re-election is expected to ensure continuity in the Assembly’s work and strengthen legislative oversight, governance, and the implementation of laws aligned with the country’s socio-economic development agenda.
The first session of the 10th National Assembly is scheduled to run from March 23 to 27, during which lawmakers will review and approve major national agendas, including legislative plans, development strategies, and institutional frameworks for the new term.
Xaysomphone’s continued leadership is seen as key to maintaining stability and enhancing coordination within the National Assembly as Laos advances its governance and development priorities.
