Minister of Foreign Affairs Receives Courtesy Calls from Ambassadors of Friendly Nations

KPL On January 14, 2026, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, received separate courtesy calls from newly appointed Ambassadors of friendly nations to the Lao PDR.

(KPL) On January 14, 2026, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, received separate courtesy calls from newly appointed Ambassadors of friendly nations to the Lao PDR.

The Ambassadors included Mr. Sergey Zhestkii, Ambassador of the Russian Federation; Mr. Ong Siew Gay, Ambassador of Singapore; and Mr. Yogeshwar Sangwan, Ambassador of India to the Lao PDR.

On this occasion, the Minister extended a warm welcome and conveyed his congratulations to the Ambassadors on their official appointments. He highly appreciated the long-standing friendship and fruitful cooperation between the Lao PDR and these friendly countries, noting that bilateral relations have continued to strengthen through regular high-level exchanges and close people-to-people ties.

The Minister expressed confidence that the Ambassadors would play an active role in further enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in priority areas such as economics, trade, investment, and tourism, for the mutual benefit of the peoples of Laos and their respective countries.

In response, the Ambassadors expressed their sincere appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with relevant Lao authorities, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to further promote friendship and cooperation between their countries and the Lao PDR in the future.
