The event, themed “Asia in the Changing World: Towards a Shared Future,” brought together leaders, policymakers, researchers, experts, business figures, and representatives from international organizations and the media to discuss regional and global cooperation.

(KPL) Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, accompanied by a delegation, participated in and delivered a speech at the Boao Forum for Asia 2025, held in Hainan, China. The event, themed “Asia in the Changing World: Towards a Shared Future,” brought together leaders, policymakers, researchers, experts, business figures, and representatives from international organizations and the media to discuss regional and global cooperation.
During his address, Prime Minister Sonexay praised the forum as a crucial platform for dialogue and collaboration in shaping peace and development. He emphasized Laos’ commitment to regional stability and international cooperation, especially amid increasing geopolitical and economic tensions. He highlighted the need for adaptability and strengthened global partnerships to address emerging challenges.

The Prime Minister also reaffirmed Laos’ support for China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), first introduced by President Xi Jinping in 2013. He acknowledged its role in fostering global economic development and connectivity, particularly through projects such as the Laos-China Railway, which has significantly contributed to Laos’ economic and social progress.
The participation of the Lao delegation in the Boao Forum for Asia 2025 marks another step in strengthening the country’s regional and global economic ties, reinforcing its role as a key player in ASEAN’s connectivity strategy.
