KPL President Thongloun Sisoulith and President Min Aung Hlaing reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and expanding cooperation between Laos and Myanmar during official talks in Vientiane on July 3, held as part of the Myanmar leader's state visit to the Lao PDR from July 3–5.

President Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation, was accorded an official welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace before holding bilateral talks with President Thongloun and their respective delegations.
The visit commemorates the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two neighboring countries and aims to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors.

During the talks, the two leaders reviewed progress in bilateral relations and exchanged views on domestic, regional, and international developments. They welcomed the continued expansion of cooperation in defense and security, foreign affairs, trade, investment, transport, energy, labor, education, and tourism, while encouraging relevant agencies to further deepen practical cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.

President Thongloun welcomed President Min Aung Hlaing's visit, describing it as an important milestone in advancing the traditional friendship and close partnership between Laos and Myanmar. He also congratulated Myanmar on the formation of its new government and expressed confidence in the country's continued development.
The two leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening coordination within ASEAN, the United Nations, the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) framework, and other regional and international mechanisms.

Following the talks, the two presidents witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation and an MOU establishing sister-city relations between Vientiane Capital and Nay Pyi Taw. They also witnessed the handover of snake antivenom from Myanmar to the Lao Ministry of Health.

President Min Aung Hlaing later laid a wreath at the Unknown Soldier Monument in Vientiane in tribute to the Lao revolutionary heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country's independence and the founding of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
