(KPL) In a bid to promote and preserve Lao cultural heritage, the Women's Union of the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism visited the Lao Traditional Silk Residence and the National Museum. The study tour on March 5, 2025, held in celebration of the 115th anniversary of International Women's Day, aimed to deepen appreciation for Lao textiles, craftsmanship, and historical artifacts.

Led by Ms. Dalani Phommavongsa, Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, along with the President of the Lao Women's Union and ministry members, the visit emphasized the importance of safeguarding traditional crafts and recognizing the contributions of women in cultural preservation.

During the tour, Ms. Souvita Praseuth, President of the Lao Handicraft Association, inaugurated the exhibition "Textile Treasures of Laos," which showcases the ethnic diversity and artistic excellence of Lao textiles. The display features over 100 rare textiles, some nearly 300 years old, contributed by collectors—many of whom are over 70 years old. The collection represents ethnic groups such as the Lao-Tai, Mon-Khmer, Sino-Tibetan, Hmong-Ieu Mien, and Mon-Yao, highlighting their traditional attire, ceremonial fabrics, and intricate decorative pieces.

Visitors engaged in live demonstrations of silk weaving, cotton-silk spinning, carpet weaving, and watched documentaries on the lifestyle of Lao artisans.

The study tour concluded with a visit to the National Museum, where the Women's Union delegation explored historical artifacts and exhibits detailing different periods of Lao history and cultural evolution.
