(KPL) A scientific symposium was held in Vientiane to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party under the theme "70 Years Under the Glorious Leadership of the Party."
The event took place on February 12 and was chaired by Mr. Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune, Politburo Member, Deputy Prime Minister, and Head of the Subcommittee on the Content of Three Historic Days. Representatives from various ministries and agencies attended the symposium.
Mr. Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune emphasized that the symposium holds both theoretical and practical significance. It served as an opportunity to reflect on the glorious heritage and remarkable achievements of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party over the past 70 years since its establishment, as well as its leadership in the revolutionary cause of the nation. The founding of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party marked a significant political milestone in Lao history, signifying the Party's assumption of the historic mission to lead the Lao revolution forward.
The emergence of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party was the result of the convergence of the patriotic struggle of the multi-ethnic Lao people and the Marxist-Leninist ideology introduced by President Ho Chi Minh in Indochina. It represents the continuation of the glorious mission of the Indochinese Communist Party, undertaking the challenging yet noble historical task of leading the Lao people's struggle. This marked a new milestone in the development of the Lao revolution.
Since 1975, the Party has become the ruling party and established a new governance system. It has focused on leading the recovery and reconstruction of the economy and society, addressing the damages of war and the remnants of the old regime, and gradually improving the living standards of the people. Efforts have also been made to expand education, eradicate illiteracy, preserve and promote the nation's rich cultural heritage, and achieve one success after another. The Party continued to lead the implementation of the first five-year socio-economic development plan (1981–1985), which laid the foundation for the country's progress.
During the early stages of national protection and development, the Party prioritized and emphasized Party building, setting out tasks and directions for the new phase of its development. It has focused on strengthening itself politically, ideologically, organizationally, and methodologically, ensuring robust and comprehensive transformation while deepening efforts in cadre work in the new era.
The historical emergence of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party constituted a decisive turning point in the victory of the Lao revolution. The Party has led the complete liberation of the nation, continuously building and improving itself to ensure the revolution's success in each period.
The Party has led the establishment of a state of the people, by the people, and for the people. It has developed a socialist-oriented market economy, promoted cultural and social development for the well-being of all ethnic groups, fostered national unity, strengthened national defense towards socialist goals, built a modern and robust security force, and expanded international cooperation.
