(KPL) On 20 December 2024, the Lao National Circus, in cooperation with the National Circus Centre of Vietnam, organised a friendly acrobatic show to celebrate the 49th anniversary of Lao National Day and the 104th birth anniversary of President Kaysone Phomvihane, the beloved leader of the Lao people.
Attending the ceremony were Mr Khampheuy Philapha, Director General of the Organisation and Personnel Department at the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism; Mr Nguyen Duc Thang, First Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy to Laos; Mr Nguyen Phuc Xing, Head of the Vietnamese Cultural Centre in Vientiane; as well as Vientiane residents and members of the Vietnamese community in Laos.
The show featured several impressive performances, delighting the audience. The acrobatic show also aimed to enhance the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the peoples of Laos and Vietnam, while fostering the exchange of experience and expertise between the Lao and Vietnamese circuses.
On this occasion, Mrs Vonevilay Latthaphasavang, Director of the Lao National Circus, highlighted the special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam. She noted that the two countries are neighbours connected by long mountain ranges and rivers.
The peoples of the two nations have not only lived together in peace but have also bravely and resolutely fought against invasions, occupations, and the rule of foreign colonial powers and feudal systems. They have steadfastly claimed their right to self-determination, breaking free from colonial and feudal domination to liberate their countries. This struggle has led to the liberation and development of their nations, fostering prosperity and progress to the present day.
She remarked that the Lao national acrobatic troupe was established on 20 June 1966 in the revolutionary stronghold of Viengxay district, Huaphan Province, with the assistance of Vietnamese acrobatic arts teachers. Since the establishment of the Lao acrobatic troupe, Vietnamese acrobatic arts teachers have helped train several generations of Lao acrobats.
