(KPL) Two restaurants in Vientiane have been officially recognized for their use of Japanese-sourced ingredients.

On September 3, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) presented the Japanese Food and Ingredient Supporter certification to Easy Steak House by Olivia and Edo Izakaya Japanese Restaurant & Bar.

The certification aims to promote safe, high-quality Japanese food and beverages, showcasing the unique flavors and culture of Japan to a global audience.

Certified establishments must use authentic Japanese ingredients and beverages, ensuring customers experience the true taste of Japan. These certifications, granted by Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, are part of a global initiative launched in 2016.

The certification programme encourages restaurants, bars, and retailers to carry Japanese products, which promotes Japan's agricultural, forestry, fishery, and food products globally.

To receive certification, restaurants must demonstrate their use of Japanese ingredients, regularly offer alcoholic beverages from Japan, and highlight the distinctive taste and origin of their products.

Mr Anousit Sikhounmuang, owner and chef of Easy Steak House by Olivia, expressed his pride in receiving this certification. “Easy Steak House has been operating for two years, using high-quality Japanese ingredients like premium beef, seafood, and other products. We focus on offering a friendly service with a diverse menu, particularly focusing on steaks made from top-tier Japanese beef, known for its tenderness and flavor,” he said.

The certification marks a significant recognition for both restaurants, reinforcing trust in their quality, service, and commitment to bringing the essence of Japanese cuisine to Laos.
