New Vietnamese Consul General Pledges to Strengthen Cooperation with Central Laos

KPL The newly appointed Vietnamese Consul General for Savannakhet Province, Nguyen Van Dung, presented his letter of appointment to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Anouparb Vongnorkeo, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister Anouparb congratulated the new Consul General, whose jurisdiction covers the Lao provinces of Savannakhet, Khammouane and Bolikhamxay. He expressed confidence that Nguyen Van Dung would help strengthen cooperation between the three central Lao provinces and their Vietnamese counterparts.
Discussions focused on advancing strategic connectivity and infrastructure projects linking the two countries, including the planned Hanoi–Vientiane Expressway, the Laos–Vietnam railway connecting Vientiane, Khammouane and Vung Ang, and other initiatives aimed at enhancing regional economic integration.
The Lao side also thanked Vietnam for its continued support and emphasized the importance of the longstanding friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two neighboring countries.
For his part, Nguyen Van Dung pledged to work closely with Lao authorities and promote stronger cooperation between local governments, while encouraging the Vietnamese community in central Laos to contribute to socio-economic development and further strengthen bilateral ties.
