(KPL) The state visit to the Lao PDR by Vietnamese President Luong Cuong marked a significant step in strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.

This visit was President Luong Cuong’s first to Laos since assuming office in October 2024, and it was also his first overseas trip as Vietnam’s new head of state in 2025.

Laos, therefore, became the first country he visited in his new role, reaffirming the deep bond between the two neighboring nations.

According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Phongsamouth Anlavanh, the visit was a success on many fronts.

It not only honored the long-standing tradition of high-level exchanges between Laos and Vietnam but also emphasized the priority and special solidarity that the two Parties, States, and peoples continue to place on their unique relationship—one that stands out globally for its depth and resilience.

During the visit, President Luong Cuong and his Lao counterpart Thongloun Sisoulith agreed to fully implement the agreements reached at the highest levels between the two Parties and States.

Both sides committed to enhancing and deepening cooperation across all sectors, ensuring that their bilateral ties remain effective and comprehensive.

Discussions between the top leaders were held in an open, sincere, and highly unified manner, covering a wide range of important issues.

They expressed strong mutual support for advancing political cooperation, building greater mutual trust, and promoting collaboration in public security, defense, economy, trade, investment, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.

Additionally, the two sides discussed regional and international issues of shared concern, reinforcing their coordination in regional and global arenas.

Deputy Minister Fongsamouth emphasized that the outcomes of President Luong Cuong’s visit would contribute significantly to elevating the Laos–Vietnam relationship to new heights, enriching the traditional solidarity, special friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

President Luong Cuong’s successful trip not only deepened political trust but also opened up new directions for practical and effective collaboration, ensuring that the two nations’ relations remain an exemplary model of international solidarity.
