President Thongloun Attends Celebration of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification of Vietnam

KPL On April 30, 2025, in response to the invitation of Comrade To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of the Lao PDR, along with a high-ranking delegation of Party and state leaders from Laos, attended the grand celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification of Vietnam (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.


(KPL) On April 30, 2025, in response to the invitation of Comrade To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of the Lao PDR, along with a high-ranking delegation of Party and state leaders from Laos, attended the grand celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification of Vietnam (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The event was organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of Vietnam, the President, the Government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

The celebration was attended by Vietnamese leaders, including Comrade To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee; Comrade Luong Cuong, President of Vietnam; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; President of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man; and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien.

Also present were senior Party and state leaders, former leaders, domestic and international guests, and numerous delegations.

The Lao delegation included representatives from the Party Central Committee, the Ministry of National Defense, and the provinces of Vientiane, Champassak, Savannakhet, and Huaphan.

The national-level ceremony featured a military parade on Le Duan-Independence Boulevard in Ho Chi Minh City, with over 13,000 troops participating.

Among them were forces from the Lao People's Army, as well as troops from other countries, including the People's Liberation Army of China and the Royal Cambodian Armed Force. Additionally, the ceremony included a 21-gun salute, a flyover by 13 helicopters, nine Yak-130 aircrafts, and seven Su-30MK2 jets from the Vietnam People's Air Force, soaring across the skies of Ho Chi Minh City in celebration.

On this occasion, General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, along with senior Party and state leaders of the Lao PDR, met with General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

They also participated in a ceremony to award the Issara (freedom) Order to the Vice President and former Vice President of Vietnam in recognition of their outstanding contributions to strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, governments, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.

They later attended a banquet hosted by President Luong Cuong.

Additionally, the Lao delegation met with a high-level delegation from Cuba, led by Comrade Salvador Valdés Mesa, Politburo member and Vice President of Cuba, who also traveled to Vietnam to attend the 50th-anniversary celebration of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification of Vietnam.
