(KPL) On April 28, 2025, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Ms. Keo Chanthavixay led a delegation to visit Lao Yamaki Garment Factory Limited and Goling Lao Company Limited in Naxaythong District, Vientiane, in recognition of International Labor Day (May 1). The visit aimed to encourage workers and employers while reinforcing compliance with national labor laws.
Representatives from both factories briefed the delegation on operations, production processes, and challenges.
Lao Yamaki Garment Factory, which exports to Thailand, Japan, and Europe, produces 1,500 garments daily. Workers earn a base salary of at least 1.6 million kip per month (for new hires), with additional benefits such as transportation allowances, attendance bonuses, and overtime pay—potentially exceeding 4 million kip monthly. Despite employing 280 workers, the factory faces a labor shortage of over 100 employees, limiting its capacity to meet daily demand of 2,000 pieces.
Meanwhile, Goling Lao Co., Ltd., specializing in shoemaking, employs over 2,000 workers and produces 73,000+ pairs monthly for export to the U.S., Germany, Canada, and other markets. Employees earn over 4 million kip monthly, including benefits such as free housing and allowances.
Deputy Minister Keo Chanthavixay commended both factories for their contributions to socioeconomic development and their commitment to worker welfare, including fair wages, social security, and safe working conditions. She emphasized the importance of such efforts in retaining Lao workers and reducing overseas labor migration.
