“Lunar Chinese New Year is an annual celebration in China and the world. It starts the first new moon of the lunar calendar and ends on the first full moon,” said Director of Director of China Culture Center, Ms Li Yiping.

The lunar calendar is based on moon cycles, so the dates of the Lunar New Year celebration can change slightly each year.
“The year of the dragon in Chinese culture symbolizes the great power, good luck and strength. It represents power and authority, particularly control over typhoons, water, rainfall and floods,” said Ms Li Yiping.

Ms Li Yiping mentioned the celebration of the Chinese New Year" in 2024 will be organized in various forms of exchange activities up to 500 activities in more than 100 countries and regions around the world.

“This month, the Chinese Cultural Center in the Lao PDR will continue organizing activities such as Chinese food workshops, cultural exhibitions during the Chinese New Year, wearing ancient Chinese costumes, taking pictures of the prize winners and other activities to celebrate the Chinese New Year,” she added.
On February 3-4, the Chinese Cultural Center in the Lao PDR will hold the event of "Get Lucky for the Year of the Dragon".
