(KPL) A high-level delegation from the State Audit Organization of Laos, led by Viengthavisone Thephachanh, paid a working visit to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from March 31 to April 2, 2026, to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the National Audit Authority of Cambodia.
The Lao delegation was warmly received by Som Kim Suor and her colleagues.
The meeting marked continued progress under the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2009, reinforcing cooperation in the development of state auditing in both countries. It also contributed to the growing ties between Laos and Cambodia, as the two nations prepare to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations on June 15, 2026.
During the discussions, both sides exchanged updates on socio-economic developments, audit achievements, and future priorities. They agreed to continue regular high-level exchanges and strengthen cooperation in capacity building, particularly in performance auditing, follow-up of audit findings, and the modernization and digitalization of audit systems.
The two institutions also shared technical knowledge and experiences, including auditing practices in land and mining revenue, as well as public procurement.
During the visit, the Lao delegation paid a courtesy call on Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia. She highly appreciated the visit, noting its importance in further strengthening bilateral relations, especially in the context of the upcoming diplomatic milestone.
She encouraged both sides to maintain close cooperation, enhance the exchange of auditing expertise, and continue supporting each other in regional and international forums to advance professional standards and modernization efforts.
