(KPL) Party Secretary General and State President Thongloun Sisoulith yesterday received in Vientiane a courtesy call from Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Vo Thi Anh Xuan during her official visit to Laos from August 21-22.

President Thongloun warmly welcomed the Vietnamese Vice President and her delegation, highly appreciating the visit as an important contribution to strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.

The visit comes at a time when both Parties and States are preparing to celebrate significant national milestones, including the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2, the 50th anniversary of Laos’ National Day on December 2, as well as the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and briefed the Lao leader on the objectives of her visit, the outcomes of her talks with her Lao counterpart Pany Yathortou, and conveyed greetings from Secretary General To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and other senior Vietnamese leaders.

President Thongloun expressed appreciation for the greetings and in return conveyed his warm regards and brotherly sentiments to Secretary General To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and other Vietnamese Party and State leaders.

He also expressed deep gratitude to the Vietnamese Party and State for their consistent support to Laos, particularly in human resource development across various fields, which has significantly contributed to the nation’s construction and development.

Both sides exchanged views on bilateral cooperation, recognizing the steady progress achieved in recent years, particularly in politics, defense, security, and economic collaboration. They reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in economy, trade, and investment to match the excellent political ties between the two nations.

The two leaders also pledged to continue cherishing and deepening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the Parties, States, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam for greater prosperity in the future.
