(KPL) On August 21, 2025, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone met with Vice President of Vietnam Vo Thi Anh Xuan during her official visit to the Lao PDR from August 21-22.
Prime Minister Sonexay warmly welcomed the Vietnamese Vice President and expressed great delight in the meeting.
He highly valued her official visit to Laos, noting that this was her first visit since assuming office in 2021.
The prime minister emphasized that the visit would help further strengthen and contribute significantly to the enhancement of the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
PM Sonexay extended his warm and sincere greetings through the Vietnamese vice president to the leaders of the Party, State, and National Assembly of Vietnam, particularly Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his cabinet members.
Both sides exchanged briefings on their respective socio-economic development and expressed appreciation for the achievements made by the two countries in recent years.
They highly valued the bilateral relations and cooperation that have continuously expanded and borne fruitful results, especially through the regular high-level exchanges between the two Parties and States, which demonstrate the unique and special relations between Laos and Vietnam that are unparalleled in the world.
Both sides also agreed to continue promoting the implementation of high-level agreements between the two Parties, as well as the cooperation plan between the two governments, to ensure greater efficiency in economic cooperation and to make it increasingly commensurate with the excellent political relations of the two countries.
Prime Minister Sonexay praised the successful outcome of the official meeting between the Vice Presidents of Laos and Vietnam.
He also, on behalf of the Lao Party, State, and people, sincerely expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese Party, State, and people for their valuable and timely support to Laos during the national liberation struggle, as well as in safeguarding and building the country today.
In particular, he thanked Vietnam for its assistance in implementing many important and symbolic projects that represent the close cooperation between the two nations.
In reply, the Vietnamese Vice President expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and encouraged the Prime Ministers of Laos and Vietnam to continue working closely together to implement the agreements reached between the two political bureaus, particularly the outcomes of the 47th meeting of the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee, as well as the strategic cooperation projects of the two countries, to ensure practical benefits for the peoples of Laos and Vietnam
