(KPL) The Department of Tax under the Ministry of Finance held a meeting on Monday, March 3, to discuss a draft amendment to the Income Tax Law.
Chaired by Deputy Minister of Finance Phouvong Kittavong, the meeting brought together directors of relevant departments, representatives from various ministries, provincial finance departments, tax offices, the business community, and other stakeholders.
Deputy Minister Phouvong Kittavong emphasized that the meeting aimed to gather feedback from both the public and private sectors to ensure the amended law is comprehensive, practical, and ready for implementation.
Income tax in Laos is levied on individuals, legal entities, and organizations with income or revenue. It applies to Lao citizens, foreigners, stateless individuals, and foreign legal entities operating in the Lao PDR.
After six years of implementing the current law, certain provisions require revision to keep pace with the country’s evolving socio-economic landscape. The meeting sought to ensure that the amendments would enhance the law’s effectiveness in supporting national economic and social development.
