Huaphan Suffers Over 124.7 Billion Kip in Damage Due to Floods

KPL Flood-related damages to irrigation systems in Huaphan Province have been estimated at 124.7 billion kip, according to Mr. Bounseum Insoumang, Deputy Head of the Irrigation Division, Department of Agriculture and Forestry of Huaphan Province.

(KPL) Flood-related damages to irrigation systems in Huaphan Province have been estimated at 124.7 billion kip, according to Mr. Bounseum Insoumang, Deputy Head of the Irrigation Division, Department of Agriculture and Forestry of Huaphan Province.

Up to 71 irrigation facilities in 8 districts across the northern province were reported damaged after typhoon Yagi struck the province early last month.

Preliminary assessments by the Offices of Agriculture and Forestry in these districts indicate that Sobbao was the hardest hit, with 31 irrigation projects affected across 514 hectares, incurring losses of 31.4 billion kip. Viengxay saw 6 projects affected, resulting in 29.7 billion kip in damages. Hiem reported 4 projects impacted with losses amounting to 28.1 billion kip.

Xamneua experienced damage to 11 projects with losses totaling 13 billion kip, while Huameuang had 6 projects impacted incurring losses of 14.1 billion kip.
