(KPL) The President of the Lao National Assembly, Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane, welcomed Thai Ambassador to Laos, Ms. Morakot Srisawat, and her delegation in Vientiane on September 30.

During the visit, Ms. Morakot presented a contribution of 2.1 million baht (approximately 14 billion kip) to support Laos in hosting the 45th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

Mr. Xaysomphone expressed his appreciation for Ms. Morakot’s efforts in strengthening bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Laos, particularly in supporting Laos’ ASEAN chairmanship and its presidency of AIPA. He highlighted the importance of these efforts in fostering closer ties between the two countries and establishing a strategic partnership for sustainable growth and development.

He also extended his gratitude to the Thai government, parliament, and people for their continued support, including the provision of expertise and resources, in organizing the 45th AIPA, which Laos will host this year.

Bilateral cooperation between the National Assemblies of Laos and Thailand has seen steady progress, with regular exchanges at various levels. In October 2022, Mr. Xaysomphone led a delegation on an official visit to Thailand, where the two assemblies signed their first memorandum of understanding, solidifying their mutual support.

In response, Ms. Morakot expressed her gratitude for the warm reception from the Lao National Assembly President and noted that her visit aimed to deliver financial assistance for the 45th AIPA.
