(KPL) The ASEAN-Australia Workshop on managing government information to combat fake news and disinformation took place on October 1, 2024, in Jakarta, Indonesia. The event focused on familiarizing participants with the ASEAN Guideline on this issue.
Ichwan Makmur Nasution, Head of the Centre for International Affairs at Indonesia’s Ministry of Communications and Informatics, opened the workshop. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the ASEAN Task Force on Fake News (TFFN) and promoting the implementation of the ASEAN Guideline through discussions and shared experiences in strategic communications.
Running until October 3, the workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to exchange information on good practices and explore lessons learned in dealing with fake news. Topics such as AI, public emergencies, and the challenges faced by vulnerable groups in accessing reliable information will also be covered.
The event is supported by the ASEAN-Australia Political Security Partnership, with the Asia Foundation as the implementing partner.
