On September 22, 2024, Champasak Governor Alounxay Sounalath led efforts to prepare for potential flooding in Pakse as water levels in the Mekong and Sedone rivers reached critical levels. Governor Alounxay also inspected high-risk areas, including Houay Poon and Tha Hin Nua villages, to coordinate timely flood prevention measures.
