(KPL) Champassak’s Khong Island ring road was opened to the public on Monday after two years and four months of construction.
The concrete road stretching 43.5 km surrounding Khong Island has been constructed with a financial grant of 12 million US dollars from the Maha Nathi Sithandone Special Economic Zone Project.

The concrete road stretching 43.5 km surrounding Khong Island has been constructed with a financial grant of 12 million US dollars from the Maha Nathi Sithandone Special Economic Zone Project.
The inauguration event was held in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning and Investment Sonexay Siphandone, Governor of Champassak Province Vilayvong Bouddakham, Khong district governor Khamphou Litthisack and representatives of relevant authorities.
Vice President of Sithandone Joint Development Co., Ltd Lati Sisouphannavong said that the road construction project can constitute as a gift to people of Khong Island and the corporate contribution of the company to the socio-economic development in the district and Champassak province as a whole. “This is just the beginning of the Maha Nathi Sithandone Special Economic Zone Project. Each stage of its infrastructure development will improve the livelihoods of local people, providing a good opportunity for socio-economic development and tourism in Champassak province,” said Mr Lati Sisouphannavong.
