On 22nd April 2026, representatives from 12 leading Chinese firms met with Mr Leklai Sivilay, the Minister of Public Works and Transport, at the ministry’s headquarters in Vientiane. According to a report by the Vientiane Mai Daily, the delegation includes industry giants spanning several sectors, including infrastructure construction, energy and mining, digital technology, and finance.

During the meeting, Minister Leklai Sivilay provided the delegation with a comprehensive overview of Laos' socio-economic development. He outlined the progress made in recent years and detailed the government’s strategic roadmap for the next five-year plan.
