President urges commercial production in southern Laos

KPL President Choummaly Sayasone has urged residents in southern provinces to attach more importance to commercial production in potential areas to boost economic growth. He made the suggestion during his working visit to Attapeu Province on 25-27 April where he and his delegation were warmly welcomed by Attapeu Governor Nam Viyaketh. President Choummaly suggested residents of Saravan, Xekong, Champassak and Attapeu Provinces to promote agriculture production as a main economic driver.

(KPL) President Choummaly Sayasone has urged residents in southern provinces to attach more importance to commercial production in potential areas to boost economic growth.

He made the suggestion during his working visit to Attapeu Province on 25-27 April where he and his delegation were warmly welcomed by Attapeu Governor Nam Viyaketh.

President Choummaly suggested residents of Saravan, Xekong, Champassak and Attapeu Provinces to promote agriculture production as a main economic driver.

“In terms of production, modern technology and science must be used to maximize agricultural production,” he said.

The President was accompanied by the governors of Saravan, Xekong, Champassak and Attapeu Provinces while touring the investment areas of the Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group, a leading company in the agriculture and infrastructure sectors in southern Laos.

The visited areas included the Attapeu airport which is under construction, rubber and palm tree plantations, a cow farm and grass plantations.

Mr Choummaly also stressed to the leaders of the above mentioned provinces to double check their five-year socio-economic development plans 2016-2020.
