(KPL) Fourteen teams from the English Premier League Lao Fan Club (EPL) will compete in a seven player per team football tournament titled Sponsor EPL Fan Club 2016.

The English Premier League Lao Fan Club Association held a press conference about the tournament last Friday in the presence of Chairman of Lanexang United, Mr Phanthachith Inthilath, General Secretary of the Lao Football Federation, Mr Xaybandith Rasphone, representatives of British Embassy to Laos, and the 14 football teams.

This year, the tournament will join the association partner with the Lanexang Indoor Sports Centre, the Lao Football Federation and the British Embassy to Laos.

Laos is the first country to hold a seven player per side football tournament under the English Premier League Lao Fan Club, said Mr Xaybandith.

He said the tournament intends to encourage young people to play seven against seven games and to initiate more competition.

“In the future, I hope that more than 14 teams will be competing in the seven against seven games,” added Mr Xaybandith.
