(KPL) The Information and Publicity Committee has announced that preparations are nearly complete for its role in supporting the 12th National Games, which will be held from 15 to 25 November 2025.

The committee comprises three main units: the Secretariat Unit, the Publicity Unit, and the Live Broadcast Unit, covering both radio and television. Each unit has carefully assigned duties and responsibilities, achieving more than 90 percent readiness across all areas.

On 5 November 2025, Mr Somsavath Phongsa, Head of the Mass Media Department of the Party Central Committee’s Propaganda and Training Board and Head of the Information and Publicity Committee, told reporters that preparations have been made in a comprehensive and systematic manner.

He explained that the committee has instructed media organisations across the country to work together to promote the logo, mascot, and slogan of the Games, as well as to highlight the preparations of athletes from each province. The committee has also submitted its draft work plan, personnel plan, and budget plan to the Secretariat for consideration and approval.

A News Centre has been designated at the National Stadium at Km 16. It will include one press conference room and two working rooms for resident journalists. Historical photographs illustrating the background and development of the National Games will also be displayed at the venue.

Media teams have been formed to interview all organising committees and cover the Torch Relay, which passes through nine districts. The relay has already been completed in six districts: Sangthong, Sikhottabong, Chanthabouly, Sisattanak, Hadsayfong, and Pakngum. In addition, the committee is finalising the registration process for issuing service cards to journalists covering the event.

Key Responsibilities of the Committee

Mr Somsavath outlined several core responsibilities of the Information and Publicity Committee.

These include registration and accreditation, involving the development of detailed procedures for domestic, private, and foreign media organisations wishing to cover the Games.

The committee is also tasked with news centre management, ensuring that the domestic and international news centre at the National Stadium is fully equipped with the necessary facilities to support journalists.

Under media personnel management, the committee is preparing teams to coordinate with both local and international media representatives.

It will also oversee live broadcast scheduling, working with the National Secretariat and the Technical Competition Committee to organise television and radio broadcasts of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and selected sports events.

Regarding news reporting deployment, journalists will be stationed at each competition venue to ensure continuous coverage through television, radio, newspapers, and online platforms throughout the Games.

Finally, the committee will handle documentation and exhibition, recording still images and videos, compiling sports event data, and preparing the exhibition framework and photo selections for submission to the Organising Chairman for approval.

Mr Somsavath Phongsa called on all Lao media organisations to make thorough preparations and ensure accurate, timely, and comprehensive coverage of the 12th National Games and all related sporting activities.
