The session included Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Ms. Sauansavan Viyaket, Deputy Ministers, department heads, tourism business representatives, and officials from Vientiane and provincial tourism offices.
Minister Sauansavan emphasized the government’s commitment to tourism as a vital economic sector, noting its role in job creation, income generation, and foreign currency inflows, which significantly contribute to Laos' economic and social development. Tourism growth aligns with government objectives to alleviate poverty and foster national progress.
Visit Laos Year 2024, launched on November 23, 2023, under the slogan: "Tourism in Laos is safe, enjoy culture, nature, and history," includes 79 events—14 at the national level and 65 at the local level. These activities aim to promote the nation’s cultural, natural, and historical assets while increasing international tourist arrivals.
The meeting focused on assessing achievements, addressing challenges, and refining strategies to enhance the tourism sector’s performance. The insights gained aim to elevate Laos’ tourism reputation and pave the way for future tourism initiatives.
