(KPL) In 2024, Savannakhet Province achieved remarkable socio-economic progress with a growth rate of 7.9%, exceeding its planned target. The provincial budget was surpassed by over 50%.Rice production reached 884,000 tonnes, with 629,000 tonnes harvested, along with 48,000 tonnes of sugarcane and 35,000 tonnes of rubber, marking record highs. The province also successfully reduced its dependency on imports by producing substitute goods such as meat, fish, and eggs.Efforts to alleviate poverty in remote areas focused on three key zones including Xiengtoop Cluster (Sepon District): Development of all-season roads, land reclamation, construction of boarding schools for grades 1 and 2, and literacy programs, Kham Pa Nhae Cluster (Chonnabuly District): Addressing the needs of marginalized communities through road construction and resource allocation and Tang Ai-La Bang Area (Nong District): Infrastructure development, electricity supply, and establishment of production centers to support livelihoods.The province has also been actively preparing for three significant historical celebrations in 2025: the 70th anniversary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Lao PDR, and the 105th birth anniversary of President Kaysone Phomvihane. Preparations include gathering and preserving historical data for central-level documentation and constructing roads and memorial parks at President Kaysone Phomvihane’s birthplace, Ban Na Seng.These achievements and preparations highlight Savannakhet Province's dedication to development and the well-being of its people.
