Speaking at the 8th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly’s 9th legislature, President of the Supreme People’s Prosecutor Office, Xaysana Khotphouthone, reported that prosecutors recorded 8,795 criminal cases during the year, including 964 cases carried over from 2023.

Out of these, 9,190 cases were resolved. This included 2,483 cases returned for further investigation, 6,178 cases submitted for court trials, and 97 cases finalized through administrative solutions.

Mr. Xaysana credited several key measures for this success, such as enhanced capacity-building programs for prosecutors, rigorous monitoring of case progress to ensure fair and efficient resolution, and a firm commitment to transparency and adherence to legal principles.

Looking ahead to 2025, the judiciary aims to implement advanced strategies to uphold its commitment to justice and better serve the people of the Lao PDR.
