Deputy Agriculture Minister Conducts Working Visit to Khammuan Province

KPL Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Chanthakhone Boualaphanh led a working visit to Yommalad, Thakhek, and Nongbok districts in Khammuan Province last week to provide guidance to local authorities and monitor progress in the agriculture and irrigation sectors.

(KPL) Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Chanthakhone Boualaphanh led a working visit to Yommalad, Thakhek, and Nongbok districts in Khammuan Province last week to provide guidance to local authorities and monitor progress in the agriculture and irrigation sectors.

The deputy minister and her delegation were warmly welcomed by leaders of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment.

During the visit, she inspected local agricultural activities and key irrigation infrastructure, focusing on gravity-fed irrigation systems in Yommalad district capable of irrigating up to 9,700 hectares of farmland.

She also reviewed land development preparations for an agricultural project operated by Khammuan Import and Export Company.

In Thakhek district, the deputy minister visited the construction site of a river embankment project near Sikhottabong Temple and inspected the ongoing construction of a fertilizer factory in Ban Mai Phosy, a project invested in by DM Group.

Additionally, she visited Ban Donepadek to assess local agricultural production and examined irrigation systems, with the aim of proposing a budget for the rehabilitation of flood and drought mitigation infrastructure.

The visit concluded with an inspection of a rice-field shrimp farming project in Ban Xiengwang Tha, Nongbok district.
