The annual That Luang Festival and 2024 Trade Fair will be held from November 11 to 15, showcasing Lao culture, traditions, and local products. Mr. Viengphone Keokhounsy, head of Vientiane’s Department of Information, Culture, and Tourism, announced the schedule at a press conference on November 5.
(KPL) The annual That Luang Festival and 2024 Trade Fair will be held from November 11 to 15, showcasing Lao culture, traditions, and local products. Mr. Viengphone Keokhounsy, head of Vientiane’s Department of Information, Culture, and Tourism, announced the schedule at a press conference on November 5.
Festival activities will take place at That Luang Square, while the trade fair will be hosted at the Lao-I-Tech shopping center. Events include:
November 11: Opening ceremony at 4:30 p.m.
November 12-13: Religious activities with prayers and blessings.
November 14: Wax castle ceremony at Wat Si Muang, featuring a procession around the Golden Stupa.
November 15: Large almsgiving (tak bat) and a full moon candlelight procession around the stupa.
The festival, one of Laos' most significant religious events, will also include traditional sports and aims to preserve Lao culture. The trade fair will feature Lao-made goods, including products from small and medium-sized enterprises, promoting economic growth through tourism and local commerce.
