(KPL) The SENO Triangle Development Project in Outhoumphone district, Savannakhet Province has commenced and is expected to be completed by 2019.

The US$2-million project will consist of a parking area for trucks, a shopping center, restaurants, and an information service center on a combined area of 970 sq. metres out of a total area of 71,350 sq. metres where UXOs have been cleared.

The area will provide facilities for trucks transporting goods along the SENO Economic Corridor which is under the cooperation framework of Japan-ASEAN part B and is being implemented by the Japan International Cooperation System (JICS).

Savannakhet Deputy Head Mr Phousamay Kittalath has said that the Zaxy Group has asked for a land lease concession of the remaining area to use to construct a petrol station, a hotel, and a loading and goods distribution centre.

At present, the concerned sector is conducting a feasibility study for the construction, he said.

Once completed, the project will benefit local people and facilitate the transportation of goods along National Road No 13 South and the No 9 East and West Economic Corridor linking the Mekong sub-region.
