(KPL) From August 25–29, 2026, Mrs. Manisakhorn Thammavongxay, Director General of the Tourism Marketing Promotion Department under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, together with the Vientiane Capital Tourism Department, led a Lao tourism business delegation to the 20th International Travel Expo (ITE 2026) in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam.

The delegation comprised representatives from WorldWide Travel, Lao Boutique Travel, ASEB Travel, Brother Tour, Crowne Plaza Vientiane, Holiday Inn, Shanterlee Travel and MP Tour.

Organized by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee in cooperation with Viet Nam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, ITE 2026 was held under a business-to-business (B2B) format, bringing together around 600 international participants, 50 senior government officials, 280 international buyers, more than 500 tourism companies and over 1,000 visitors.

During the expo, Lao tourism operators held more than 300 B2B meetings with existing and potential business partners to exchange market information, explore business opportunities and promote joint travel itineraries.

The Lao delegation used the event to seek new tourism markets, strengthen tourism cooperation in the Mekong sub-region and promote the country’s natural, historical, cultural and agricultural tourism attractions to international markets.

The participation is expected to help expand international tourism partnerships, increase visitor arrivals and create new opportunities for Lao tourism businesses to connect with regional and global markets
