(KPL) On August 26, 2026, Lt. Gen. Vanthong Kongmany, Minister of Public Security, conducted an on-site inspection of operations against cybercrime and online gambling in Lakhin and Houayhom villages, Sikhottabong District, Vientiane Capital.
The operations were carried out by a ministry-level special task force tasked with combating cybercrime and online gambling.
During raids at the two locations, authorities arrested two suspects and seized various items believed to be connected with cybercrime activities, including laptops, mobile SIM cards, SIM boxes, internet transmission and receiving equipment, power storage units and other related equipment.
Following the operations, Minister Vanthong Kongmany commended the task force for its investigative work and successful enforcement efforts.
He instructed officers to securely preserve all confiscated items as evidence for further legal proceedings and called for continued and intensified efforts to identify and suppress hidden cybercrime operations, online gambling and other related social problems across the country.
The Minister emphasized that law enforcement agencies must remain vigilant and take firm action to protect public safety, social order and the interests of the people.
