(KPL) A dissemination meeting on the draft agreement governing parking management and development and the operation of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system under the Vientiane Sustainable Urban Transport Project was held at the Saysettha District Office on August 19, 2026.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Vongsavanh Donphouluang, Vice President of the Saysettha District Administration Committee, and attended by relevant officials and village authorities.
Mr. Vongsavanh said effective urban public transport and parking management are essential to addressing Vientiane's rapid urban growth, increasing vehicle numbers and rising travel demand, while improving traffic management and residents' quality of life.
The draft agreement, comprising 11 chapters and 47 articles, aims to establish clear and unified principles for managing parking facilities and operating the BRT system in a safe, convenient and efficient manner.
Officials presented the draft, the background of the BRT project and proposed changes to traffic flows in central Vientiane. Participants also provided feedback and practical recommendations to strengthen the agreement and ensure its effective implementation
