A groundbreaking ceremony for the Vang Vieng Central Plaza Project was held on June 1 at the former airport site in Vang Vieng District, Vientiane Province, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith, provincial leaders, investors, and stakeholders.

Developed by China Engineering Construction Laos Co., Ltd., the USD 216 million project will cover 210,000 square meters and feature a comprehensive commercial complex integrating tourism, dining, culture, and entertainment under the concept of “Vang Vieng – The City That Never Sleeps.”
The project is expected to create 4,000–5,000 jobs, boost tourism, improve infrastructure, and generate revenue for local and national development. Provincial authorities expressed confidence that the project will contribute significantly to the socio-economic growth of Vang Vieng and Vientiane Province.
The ceremony also included a tree-planting activity to mark National Tree Planting Day 2026.
