The Vientiane Administration on May 22 signed concession and investment agreements for the construction of two tap water production plants aimed at improving clean water supply services for residents in the capital.
The signing ceremony was held at the Landmark Mekong Riverside Hotel between the Vientiane Capital Investment Promotion and Management Office and Lao Water Pipe Industry Technology Sole Co., Ltd.
The agreements were signed by Mr. Thanonsin Sengphavong, Head of the Vientiane Capital Investment Promotion and Management Office, and Mrs. Suchinda Sengphet, Director of Lao Water Pipe Industry Technology Sole Co., Ltd.

Under the agreement, two tap water production plants will operate at Thad Khiew Village in Sisattanak District and Yapha Village in Sikhottabong District. Each facility has a production capacity of 20,000 cubic meters of water per day.
The project is being implemented under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model and is managed by Lao Water Pipe Industry Technology Sole Co., Ltd. The concession period is set for 30 years from the completion of construction.
The primary objective of the project is to produce and supply clean water to the Vientiane Capital Water Supply State Enterprise for distribution to residents in the designated areas, ensuring access to sufficient, high-quality, and reliable tap water services.
Although the original construction timeline was set at one year, both plants were completed ahead of schedule in just seven months. The facilities utilize modern water supply technology and are now fully operational.
