(KPL/Yonhap) Samsung Electronics Co. on Tuesday unveiled a new premium television that harnesses red, green and blue (RGB) backlight, enabling independent control of colors for more vivid resolution.

The 115-inch Micro RGB TV delivers more vivid images compared to traditional TVs with only white backlights, according to the South Korean tech giant.

"The Micro RGB TV is the product that can most accurately control light and color, which are the fundamental elements of display technologies," Samsung Electronics Vice President Son Tae-yong said.

Son added that Samsung Electronics will continue to maintain its leadership in the TV sector with a focus on the ultra-large and premium segments.

The new TV employs artificial intelligence (AI) technology through its Micro RGB AI Engine, which analyzes displayed content in real time to adjust colors and enhance low-resolution images.

The engine minimizes image distortion in fast-moving scenes as well through its AI Motion Enhancer Pro.

The TV also features glare-free technology, certified by U.S.-based Underwriters Laboratories Inc., which reduces light reflection on the screen and allows users to enjoy clear resolution in bright environments.

Touching on Chinese rivals, such as Hisense, releasing similar models, Samsung Electronics said the latest TV has an advantage in terms of technology.

"The biggest difference is that, Hisense TVs have mini LED technology, and Samsung Electronics boasts micro LED technology," Corporate Vice President Lee Jong-po said.

"We can confidently say that the micro LED technology has a competitive edge," Lee added.

The new Micro RGB TV, currently available in South Korea, is priced at 44.9 million won (US$322,000) and will gradually reach global markets, including the United States, starting next month.
