(KPL/VNA) General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and State President Thongloun Sisoulith had separate meetings with former Vietnamese Presidents Nguyen Minh Triet and Truong Tan Sang in Ho Chi Minh City on September 12.
Thongloun recalled memories from his previous meetings with the two former Presidents and expressed his hope to welcome them to Laos in the future. He affirmed that Laos will continue, together with Vietnam, to preserve, nurture and pass on the fine tradition of the special Vietnam-Laos relationship to future generations.
He updated the two former Presidents on the recent situation in Laos, highlighted achievements in Vietnam-Laos cooperation and the outcomes of his discussions with volunteer soldiers, former experts, students, and young generations of both countries in Hanoi. He also conveyed warm regards from former leaders of the Lao Party and State to Triet and Sang.
Triet and Sang expressed their belief that under the sound leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party led by Thongloun, the Lao people will overcome all challenges and achieve even greater successes. They showed their confidence that Laos will successfully realise the resolution of the 11th National Party Congress, and well prepare and successfully hold the 12th National Party Congress.
The former Presidents expressed their delight at the achievements of both Parties and countries, noting that the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, founded by great President Ho Chi Minh and revered Presidents Kaysone Phomvihane and Souphanouvong and continuously nurtured by successive generations of leaders and people, has been consolidated and developed over the years.
Affirming that Thongloun's visit would further deepen the bilateral special relationship, they expressed their wish and believed that the special solidarity between the two nations would develop to new heights. They also extended their regards to the former key leaders of the Lao Party and State.
