(KPL/KCNA) Today marks the 55th anniversary of the first summit meeting between President Kim Il Sung of the DPR Korea and former President Kaysone Phomvihane of the Lao PDR, which became the significant occasion in the history of development of the relation between the two countries.
The summit meeting took place on October 28, 1965 in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPR Korea and this provided the historic basis of friendly relation between the two countries which share the socialism as the common idea.

(KPL/KCNA) Today marks the 55th anniversary of the first summit meeting between President Kim Il Sung of the DPR Korea and former President Kaysone Phomvihane of the Lao PDR, which became the significant occasion in the history of development of the relation between the two countries.
The summit meeting took place on October 28, 1965 in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPR Korea and this provided the historic basis of friendly relation between the two countries which share the socialism as the common idea.
After that, former president Kaysone Phomvihane made another visit to the DPR Korea three times (in 1970, 1977 and 1992) to have historic meetings with President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, Great Leaders of the Korean people, and discussed with open mind on the issues of war against the enemy for national safeguard, postwar reconstruction and experiences gained in building socialism.

In December, 1993, President Kim Il Sung had a meeting with the former Prime Minister Khamtay Siphandone of the Lao PDR who visited the DPR Korea, and exchanged the opinions on the issues arising from the development of bilateral relation.
The Lao people have never forgotten the good will of the Korean people who gave the mental and material support to the Lao people for their struggle against the imperialism and the domestic reactionary factors and for their effort to build a new society.
In September 2011, former president Choummaly Sayasone led the Party and State delegation to visit the DPR Korea and had a meaningful meeting with Chairman Kim Jong Il, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

This visit became a historic turning point in the development of friendly relation between the parties, the states and the peoples of the two countries.
At that time, the delegation also met Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPR Korea.

During the meeting of the two countries' leaders, Chairman Kim Jong Il expressed the will of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the DPR Korea Government to further strengthen and develop the friendly relation of the two countries in conformity with the wishes of the Korean and Lao people.
The historic relation of friendship and cooperation between the two countries which has been fostered and strengthened by the predecessor leaders of the two countries continues to make its way forward firmly without turnover in the complexity of the international situation and this attributes to the deep care by Bounnhang Vorachit, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of the Lao PDR, and Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPR Korea.
High-level delegations exchange and mutual support and cooperation in building socialism which is the common course of the two countries have been witnessed.
In September 2018, the Lao High-ranking Party and the State delegation participated in the celebration events of the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the DPR Korea, and the Lao high-ranking Party delegation visited Pyongyang again in September 2019 to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation between the two countries.
In April 2019, DPR Korea high-level Party delegation visited Lao PDR and there were several delegation exchanges between the two countries including the mutual visit of the vice foreign ministers and the delegation exchanges of the social associations of the two countries.
The two countries are sharing their experiences and successes achieved in various fields including socialist construction and national security and are strengthening the comradeship and trust in this process. In addition, there are advancement in cooperation, support and solidarity on the international arena.
Few days before, there were celebration events on the occasion of the 75th founding anniversary of Korean Workers’ Party in the DPR Korea.
While the world is suffering in fear and anxiety due to the malignant Covid-19 virus pandemic, the successfully held the events such as celebration rally, mass demonstration, military parade, grand mass gymnastics and artistic performance and etc. which attracted the world highlight.
The most significant key to such successful celebration events is, amongst many other factors, the Korean Workers' Party's ideology of the people the first.
This year, the DPR Korea suffered considerably a series of typhoons and heavy floods in economy development and people’s livelihood.
However, thanks to the Pro-People's Policy of the Korean Workers' Party, the people of the affected area were provided with the better housing free of charge which is the good instance of getting good out of evil.
The Korean people, overcoming all difficulties and challenges, are vigorously struggling to successfully conclude the campaign this year, the last year of the 5-year strategy for national economic development set forth in the 7th congress of the Korean Workers’ Party and to achieve greater success in socialist construction before the 8th congress to be held in January, 2021.
The Lao Party, government, and the people constantly support the Korean people in their struggle for building powerful socialist nation, safeguarding the country and reunifying the nation peacefully and independently under the leadership of the Korean Workers’ Party headed by Chairman Kim Jong Un.

The Korean Workers’ Party and the government sincerely congratulate the Lao PDR for its achievements in socialist construction, such as socio-political stability, sustainable development of the economy, improvement of people's livelihood, strengthening of national defense and foreign affairs.
It also supports the Lao PDR in its struggle to strengthen the system of people’s democracy and to bring about the national prosperity by rejecting the intervention of hostile forces and crushing the factors of social instability.
All of this is the great encouragement to the Lao people.
It is the unwavering stand and will of the Lao Party and the government to further develop the traditional relation of friendship and cooperation to the new level in conformity with the intention of leaders of the two countries and the requirement of the new era.
The Lao people will stand shoulder by shoulder with the Korean people and move forward with the common purpose of socialist construction.
Long live the permanent and immortal friendly unity between Lao and the Korean people!
