BRT Express Bus Adds New Route Linking Key Areas in Vientiane

KPL The BRT express bus system has launched a new service route connecting Morning Market Station to Chao Fa Ngum Park, in a move aimed at improving urban mobility and reducing traffic congestion in the capital.

The newly introduced route will operate free of charge from 20 April to 9 May 2026, offering residents and commuters an opportunity to experience the expanded service. Authorities say the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to promote the use of public transport in Vientiane.

BRT buses on this route will run daily from 06:00 to 22:00. During peak hours—between 06:00 and 09:00 in the morning, and 16:00 to 18:00 in the evening—buses will arrive at stations every 6 to 7 minutes. During off-peak periods, the service frequency will range from 10 to 15 minutes at each stop.
The route begins at Dongdok Station, located near the National University of Laos, and proceeds to Morning Market Station before continuing to Chao Fa Ngum Park. Buses will then return along the same route to Dongdok, covering a total of 19 stations.
Officials expect that extending the route to Chao Fa Ngum Park will help ease congestion in the city centre while encouraging more residents of Vientiane Capital to shift towards safer, more efficient and environmentally friendly public transport options.
