(KPL) The General Department of Police under the Ministry of Public Security has donated 200 million kip to support residents affected by a recent severe hailstorm in Vientiane.

The handover ceremony took place on March 29, 2026, at the Vientiane Administration Office.

The donation was presented by Nouchon Konethongkham, Head of the General Department of Police, and received by Sililadthongsin Thongpheng, Chairman of the Vientiane Administrative Committee. The event was attended by senior officials, including department heads, deputy heads, representatives from the Department of Labour and Social Welfare, and deputy chiefs of the Vientiane Police Command.

The financial support is intended to assist families in Sikhottabong and Naxaithong districts whose homes and livelihoods were damaged by the hailstorm on March 22.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the Vientiane Administrative Committee expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Public Security and the General Department of Police for their timely assistance, noting that the funds will be used to provide urgent relief to affected communities.

Recovery efforts are ongoing, with support coming from multiple sectors, including government agencies, local authorities, businesses, and private individuals. Assistance provided so far includes financial aid, essential goods, and construction materials.

Authorities and relevant organisations have also conducted field visits to affected areas to deliver aid and offer encouragement to residents. Meanwhile, coordinated efforts involving local authorities, military personnel, police forces, and youth organisations are continuing to help restore normal living conditions as quickly as possible.
