(KPL) A new secondary school was officially handed over on March 28 in Feuang District, Vientiane Province, in a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and senior government officials.

The LaoKham Secondary School, constructed over five months beginning in November 2025, is designed to serve between 200 and 300 students from 14 villages in the district.

The new facility includes a two-story building with six classrooms and a teacher’s office, along with the renovation of two existing school buildings. The project was completed at a total cost of 6.35 billion kip and built by KC Survey, Design, Construction, and Decoration Co., Ltd.

The school was funded by Nixan Mining Development Group Co., Ltd. and presented as a gift from the prime minister to local authorities and residents.

Officials said the project is aimed at improving access to education and raising the quality of teaching and learning, while supporting long-term human resource development in the country.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Sonexay and other officials took part in a ribbon-cutting and traditional gong-striking ceremony to inaugurate the school.

The prime minister also donated computers and IT equipment to support learning at the new facility. In recognition of its contribution, the president of Nixan Mining Development Group Co., Ltd. was awarded a Class I Development Medal.

Local authorities said the new school is expected to play a key role in expanding educational opportunities and supporting community development in Feuang District
